the Linux eXPerience

my linux desktop

march 5th

I been using Linux, specifically the Mint Distro, for about 2 weeks, I am loving the OS, It has so much customization and ease of use compared to windows with so many minor but useful features. I had a difficult time setting up the initial system due to needing to manually partition windows as I wanted to dualboot from my single drive but after from that issue when I just gave up and wiped the disk, the process of setting up and using Linux Mint has been nothing but fun and exciting, i have set up several desklets, installed a few games, gotten discord, firefox, steam, and spotify set-up and all in all just had fun with it, Linux Mint despite being incredibly simple has really helped me to love computers again, even getting me in part to restart this website. I have made custom desktop icons, made a rotating backdrop, even found a panel radio, there are so many minor but incredibly useful features hidden within linux that Windows just, doesn't seem to have? Things like easy to customize sounds, themes and lockscreens, easily changeable mp3 interfaces on the desktop, and custom icons like previously mentioned. I feel that even though many features do exist in windows, they are less easy to find and make use of in linux which makes the actual experience of using linux so much more fun and interesting, I feel that for a long time computers and the internet have been missing user customizability and fun, and my hope is that the indie web and Linux can help to bring that back, this time, to stay. Hell i can just throw a cat on my desktop and make the windows wobbly, since when was that easy to do on Windows or Mac
